Liverpool healthy prison scores (Back to top)

What we found (Back to top)
Drone incursion was a serious problem, and positive drug tests were the highest of any reception prison in England and Wales. Living conditions had deteriorated, levels of self-harm were high, and too few prisoners were engaged in work or education. Although the prison was fully staffed, sickness rates were high, and the possibility of staff from overseas having visas withdrawn was causing anxiety.
Points to note: Despite the obvious problems, the prison had developed many laudable initiatives, notably in health care, staff development and the support it provided for visitors.
