Report published on HMP & YOI Bullingdon.

HMP & YOI Bronzefield

Type of inspection: full inspection

Dates of inspection: 4–14 August 2025

Summary of findings: Although Bronzefield had made mixed progress in achieving the recommendations from the previous inspection in 2022, it was doing reasonably well in many areas. Strengths included the care for vulnerable women, support to find employment post-release, and a focus on the needs of young women. Less positively, interruptions to the prison day were preventing women getting to work or education, support for those withdrawing from substance misuse needed to improve, and the previously strong support for those who had experienced domestic abuse was no longer available.

Points to note: Despite being appointed only recently, the director understood Bronzefield and its changing population and was beginning to drive improvements.
